DIY Glitter Sprinkles

Everybody’s Got Their Poison, and Mine is Sugar – Derrick Rose

Valentine’s day is just around the corner and it is the time to start baking. We have these cute, easy sprinkles that you can put on almost anything. Cookies, Cake pops, Cupcakes and even Ice Cream . They are so inexpensive and easy too.

You Will Need:

  • 1/2 Cup Sugar
  • Food Coloring (we used red and blue)
  • Plastic Baggies
  • Parchment Paper
  • Cookie Sheet
  • Salt and Pepper Shakers (for storage, optional)

First you will separate your sugar into two baggies. (More or less depending on how many color sprinkles you will have.) We put 1/4 Cups of sugar in each bag. Next add your food coloring drops. We used 15 drops in one bag, for a nice rich red. In the other baggie we added 10 drops of red and 6 drops of blue (for a pretty purple.) Shake well to mix.

Next line a cookie sheet with parchment paper and spread a thin even layer of the sugar mixture.

Last insert the sugar into the oven at 200°F for about 4 minutes or until glistening. Be careful to not melt the sugar, don’t go to far from the oven 🙂

And you are done. Let cool and sprinkle away!

How to Organize Your Pantry

For Every Minute Organizing, an Hour is Earned. – Unknown

We went grocery shopping and when we got home, there was no place to fit the food we bought. The pantry had really gotten out of hand. We are going to show you the steps we took to make the pantry look much nicer and also make it much easier to find what you’re looking for. We did not use much to do this DIY. Just a few things we had lying around the house.

Here is what we used:

  • Scissors
  • Tape
  • Wrapping Paper
  • Washi Tape
  • Permanent Marker
  • Boxes

Here is what out pantry looked like starting out. ..

As you can see it is just very cluttered and we did have some boxes in there from prior organization.

The first step we took to complete this pantry organization was to find all extra boxes we had lying around the house. All shapes and sizes.

GeminiandArcher Box organization.PNG

The next step we took was to separate all the food into categories. (Ex. pasta, cans, spices, tea.) Once you do this you can wrap your boxes to make them look nice. (This step is optional.) We just used some old Christmas wrapping paper and turned it to the white side.

Next check to see what food fits best in each box. This can be overwhelming, just take your time.

Once everything fit to out liking we labeled the boxes with Washi Tape.

1.In the first square from the top we have a spot for snacks and Ramen. We made sure to have a bin for popcorn because that is our favorite snack.

2.In the next square we have our cooking spices and hot sauce .

3.In the Last square on the top row, we have peanut butter and pasta sauce. Right behind that we havea few big cans

4.In the first square on the bottom row, we have our caned goods and a bin for our hot cocoa and tea.

5. In The bottom row, middle square, we have our rice and oatmeal. We used plastic cereal boxes for the rice.

6.In the last square on the bottom row, we have all of our pasta noodles.

Here is a picture of our masterpiece when it was finished…

Now lets just hope we can keep it that way!

We really hope this gave you inspiration to organize your pantry as well. Happy organizing!

How to Make Your Toaster Look Like New.

“It doesn’t matter how ready you think you are. The toaster will always scare you.” -Unknown

Sometimes the little things, such as cleaning the toaster can be easily ignored. Then one day it gets so bad, your surprised at how dirty it has become. That’s what happened to us. There is so much build up, it makes it harder to clean. It’s not just a spot treatment anymore. Today we are going to show you how to make your toaster look new again. You just need a few things.

What you will need:

  • Dirty Toaster (please don’t judge us) 🙂
  • Your Favorite Dish Soap
  • Clean Paint Brush
  • Stainless Steal Polish
  • Sponge
  • Water

gemini and archer toaster.PNG

  1. Here is our toaster. As you can see it is full of crumbs and seeds at the bottom. Usually we just flip it upside down over the trash and shake hoping that most of it will come out. We did not even realize that there is a little tray that slides out.

2. The crumb tray is usually located in the back/bottom of the toaster. It should have a tab and slide right out.

3. Ours had quite a bit of build up. We shook the loose crumbs into the trash and soaked the tray in warm soapy water.

4. Next we turned the toaster upside down and shook the rest of the crumbs out.

5. After shaking all the crumbs loose, we took our little paintbrush with warm soapy water and cleaned out the crevices.

6. Now it is time to focus on the outside. Take a sponge and dip into warm soapy water again. Clean the outside and be gentle not to scratch the surface. Dry with a soft cloth.

7. Last take your stainless steel cleaner (this is our favorite part), and polish according to manufacturers directions.

How to Secure a Hat That Will Not Stay On.

“How a hat makes you feel is what a hat is all about” -Philip Treacy

Do you have a hat that will not stay on? I Do. Every time I look up or someone tries to give me a hug, off goes the hat. So I found a way to keep it secure even through a tornado. So First things first…you will need…
-A Hat
-Glue Gun and Glue Sticks
-Ribbon (any size will do) Try to Match the Color to the Hat.
-Bobby Pins
Once you have all the supplies take a piece of ribbon about 3 inches.
unnamed (1).png
Then cut that in half so that you have two pieces that are an inch and a half long.
unnamed (2).png
Next you will add a pea sized amount of hot glue to the end of the ribbon.
unnamed (3).png
Fold the ribbon in half, and attach it to the opposite end.
You should now have a loop. Like this.
Now add another pea sized dab of glue to the opposite end of the loop. This is the part you are going to attach to the inner brim of the hat.
Attach and hold firmly until the glue dries.
This is how it should look now.
Do the same for both sides…
The last step is to insert you favorite bobby pin into the loop on each side.
All you have to do now is secure the bobby pins to your hair and do not worry about your hat falling off anymore. Bring on the wind 🙂
